Kim's Wood Specialties is a unique business which has been refinishing and restoring antiques and other fine furniture for over 20 years. The company was started in Blueridge, Georgia, and then relocated to Hall County in 1988.
Owner George Kim is originally from Pennsylvania. In 1985, he and his wife moved to Georgia in order to homeschool their children, since Georgia was the only homeschool-friendly state at the time. At that time he was a welder, and did a variety of jobs as a handy man, including room additions, plumbing and wiring. He was introduced to furniture refinishing by a man in his church, who'd offered to train him in this new trade. Helping him allowed George to really get into the business, though initially this was more of a necessity than anything. If you really wanted to work much, you had to travel.
George has come a long way since those initial days. He is a specialist who can restore an old piece of furniture back to its original beauty. Take a look at these before and after pictures, and you'll see exactly what we mean...

Kim's Wood Specialties is open from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, sometimes on Saturdays, and never on Sundays. Although this is pretty much a one-man business, Kim's wife has always been at his side, and outside of his business, all his free hours are spent with his family. (This man sure has his priorities right!)
Because George is in and out of the office so much - he goes into homes and offices - it is always best to call and make sure he's there before paying him a visit.
George's clients include individuals, business offices, moving companies, estate appraisers, antique shops, and insurance companies.
If you have a family heirloom needing restoration, or need to make your used furniture look like new, contact George Kim and Kim's Wood Specialties.
