Hall County Life.....there's no place like home!
Hall County a county unlike any other in Georgia, is often referred to as "The Jewel of Northeast Georgia." And after taking a look at the unique geographic, economic, and natural characteristics of Hall County, it's easy to see how it received this name.
Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Sidney Lanier and the Chattahoochee River, Hall County lies at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. And while only an hour from downtown Atlanta, Hall County maintains its own identity as a regional center for shopping, medical services, financial services, and educational opportunities. Hall County's six incorporated municipalities include Gainesville, Oakwood, Flowery Branch, Clermont, Gillsville, and Lula.
Hall County residents enjoy a high quality of life made possible by a support system of financial strength, efficient public services, and abundant natural resources. Within Hall County there are two public school systems, five private schools, one college, one university, and one vocational-technical school.
The County is home to Lake Sidney Lanier, a 38,000-acre lake built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The 607-mile shoreline provides recreational activities for over 16 million visitors annually. Lake Lanier served as the site for the 1996 Olympic Rowing, Canoe, and Kayaking. So take a little time and explore the following section why Hall County has it all: From Islands to Highlands.
Gainesville has managed to hold on to that "small-town" feel even with a booming population and all that goes with it. One reason I created this blog is to assist in preserving the sense of community in Hall County.
Our family moved to Gainesville 10 years ago from Nebraska. We considered moving back to family last year, that lasted for a month, we were back to stay for good. There is so much to do here and the people are so wonderful. It is such a great place to live, to work, to raise a family, to retire....to just "be". There is a wide variety of interesting people, places and history right here in our own community. My goal is to create a fun, energetic, and informative environment that highlights all of those things from a personal perspective. I also want to promote people and organizations that are doing positive things for our communtiy.
I will be interviewing local people, local businesses, church leaders, and service organizations, etc. So if you would like me to interview you or someone you know, or write about your business or organization then please feel free to
contact me...I'd love to chat with you!
Also, if you have photos to upload or stories to share, go to the
photo section or
contact me. And if you want to add calendar events for your organization
contact me and I will post them. I want this site to be all about community and that means talking to wonderful Hall County folk just like yourself!
I'm also looking for people that share the same love for Hall County and our community to submit articles or be guest bloggers. Again, if you are interested in contributing, just
contact me.
I look forward to blogging with you!
